Plein air painting of a gorgeous white pine in the Kawarthas. This was during the time period when I was challenging myself by limiting the paints on my palette to cyan, magenta, yellow, white, and black-- this tended to give my paintings a purplish hue, especially in the shadows. This was not painted on an especially windy day, but it looks like it, thanks to the tree's curving branches raking all to one side giving it the appearance of movement. Acrylic on canvas, 9x12".
